Wa-Yaku is a crude drug which has been developed in Japan, and is used as a folk medicine or in Kampo medicine.Swertiae Herba (Senburi in Japanese) : This is a folk medicine which was developed as a substitute for Picrorrhizae Rhizoma on the 16th century (the end of the Muromachi period).It belongs to the family Gentianaceae, and whole plants is used as a digestive medicine.Whereas Picrorrhizae Rhizoma is a Scrophulariaceae plant from Himalaya, and is called ;KATUKI; in India.
It is used for acute hepatitis and bronchitis.
