Department of Medicinal Resources Management
Outline of the research
The Department of Medicinal Resources Management is responsible for the systematic collection, preservation, and management of medicinal resources, including traditional herbal medicines and natural products.
To strengthen the Institute of Natural Medicine as an international collaborative research center for natural medicines, our department develops and maintains a comprehensive medicinal resource library consisting of crude drug extracts and natural compounds.
We also conduct multidisciplinary studies on medicinal resources, including molecular systematic analysis, phytochemical investigations, and pharmacological evaluation. Through these activities, we integrate and manage scientific information related to medicinal resources and promote their utilization in collaborative research.
By providing access to these resources and research platforms, our department contributes to the discovery of bioactive compounds and the development of drug seeds derived from natural products.
Research Projects
- Construction, expansion, and maintenance of a medicinal resource library (crude drug extracts and natural compounds)
- Integrated management of medicinal resource information and promotion of its use in education and research
- Molecular systematic, phytochemical, and pharmacological analyses of medicinal resources
- Support for collaborative research utilizing medicinal resources for natural product–based drug discovery

Keywords
- Medicinal resources
- Traditional herbal medicines
- Kampo formulations
- Natural products
- Natural product chemistry
- Chemical profiling
- Bioactive compound discovery
